Cafés in Seoul that keep a chess set 3
More about this list
No café around Seoul was found to be built around chess, but a few keep a board for their guests. Cafe Derby near Sinsa Station, a specialty-coffee café that shares its room with a second-hand menswear shop, lets visitors use its chess set free of charge, and a blog review says the staff will explain the game when asked. It has no chess evening; come with someone to play.
The other cafés here are known from a single post each and are marked unconfirmed. Nyangtopia, a cat-themed café and shop near Konkuk University in Gwangjin-gu, lends board games, chess among them, at no charge, and Wonz Coffee in Guui-dong, close to the Children's Grand Park, keeps board games ready, chess included. Neither post gives an address or an opening day, so it is worth checking the café's own page before going. For regular games with strangers, the meetups on the play page suit better.
